In case you're wondering where the inspiration came from for the
Arecibo and Relay-Station maps, here's a link to one of my other
projects that's been on hold for years now:
SETI. I'm tempted to
make another map using the dish... I just love that thing. :)
Well, that was fast. My server is up and running, at least
for now. I'll try to keep it running 24/7. Try setting a
filter to look for either "ADP" or "NecroBones" and you'll
find it. It's running the latest Insomniax mod, and all
the standard CTF maps plus my own and one or two others..
Since it's brand-new, expect some tweaks and changes. Enjoy!
Things have been a little quiet here lately. July is turning out
to be a very busy month for me, between various hobbies,
conventions, obligations, and now a funeral.. I'm not sure if
I'll get any more map-work done in July, although I would -love-
to debut one or two new ones at
UVALAN2. I'm looking forward to some serious CTF action there!
The good news is that I may soon be able to get a tribes server
up and running nearly 24/7 soon. This is not garaunteed, but if
and when it happens I'll announce it here, and you can find it
by setting up a filter for "necrobones".
Two new maps! Witch-Hunt is a foggy wooded area with very high gravity
but a relatively small battlefield. It'll be a low-to-the-ground fast-paced
slugfest. Try and see if you can figure out how it got it's name. :)
The second map is the one I mentioned in the last update. It's definitely
a map for advanced players, but I think some interesting strategies will
emerge. The map is called "DeepSpace".
I just added "pic" links to the map descriptions on the
left. Also, I have two maps nearing completion, one of
which has pictures up in the gallery already under the
name of "starship-battle", though the name will change
before release. I really like that map in particular,
since the ships have lots of hiding places along the
hull and in the engine nacelles, and also it has parked
shuttlecraft that are capturable objectives. I think
most of you will get a kick out of it when it's done.
Two-Towers is out! Have fun. :)
I'll be releasing Two-Towers soon, for those who are interested..
Also, I'd like to point out that I'll be attending
is at Cheater's Wayside)
next month. I look forward to carpet-mortaring all of you who
attend (or falling to your frisbees of death, whichever happens first!).
DustStorm is now available! Check it out! Meanwhile, Two-Towers is
almost ready for release, but I'm sitting on it to make sure I don't
get any last minute ideas (so far I've had several sudden insights for
it). I've also added a screenshot for Two-Towers, though keep in mind
that the antenna you see was not kept. This is the same screenshot
featured as the pic of the day on PlanetStarsiege today.
DustStorm is close to completion, and another map is in the
works as well. Expect one or both to be available sometime
within the next week.
You can now download some of my custom reticles from the
new reticles page.
I've just added a Design Notes page, with
a description of what I did to make each map, as well as why I made
some of the choices I did, etc.
My 11th map is well underway. A screenshot of "DustStorm" has been
added to the gallery. Hopefully the horribly short viewing range
will promote teamwork. :)
We've now moved over to PlanetStarsiege for greater bandwidth and
exposure! Woohoo! To celebrate, I've made the RelayStation mission
available for download, so enjoy! The counter has been reset to zero
in the process of using a local counter.
Also, I've added an "installation Instructions" button above, and
fixed the HighSpires-ted link on the left..
The tutorial link on the editing page didn't copy right for some
reason (damn netscape), so sorry for the inconvenience. I've corrected
it, and the tutorial should now download without a problem. Good luck
with your editing!
Two things so far today.. First off, I've added a Map-Editing
tips page, which you can see here.
Secondly, I screwed up again last night with Arecibo, which is
rather embarassing. NOW the correct version is up, and I've named
it version 1.2. This is what happens when you edit maps on two
computers and lose track of which one has the latest version.
I just updated Arecibo to version 1.1. It's the version I actually meant
to distribute originally, but somehow put an older copy up by mistake.
This one puts the respawning turretpacks on the platform instead of the
back of the bases. Little else is changed.
I added some more shots in the image gallery, so you can see a few more
of the sights in my maps, including a view from atop the tall spire in
Well, we've received over 200 hits in 24 hours, so it looks like we're
off to a good start! RelayStation is coming along well, and is mostly
finished, but I want to play around with it some more before releasing
it. If anyone has any comments or suggestions about the maps already
available, I'd love to hear about it. Enjoy!
The "Image Gallery" is now online and may be added
to every once in a while. I've started it off with a few interesting shots
of the maps, including about 5 from the as yet unreleased RelayStation.
Ooops, I mistyped a few of the filenames on the left. It's been
I just got this page set up, finally.. This site is primarily intended
for distribution of my maps, as well as provide a space to make announcements
about the ADP Tribe's activities or whatever. The actual specifics will
be worked out later, but for now, please feel free to download my maps and
thoroughly enjoy them. I've started this page off with the 9 maps that
are complete so far. Unless otherwise specified, they're version 1.0 of
the maps, and might be revised later, but for now appear to be in great
working condition. I really hope to start seeing a few of these show up
on some of the servers I play on, and in fact may try to speak to a few
of those admins about running some of them. I've gone to great lengths
to make sure the maps are relatively bug-free, balanced, and creative
(including some unusual cavernous maps, and a few grand-scale structures).
